Type: Dining - French
Address: Rue Mar Maroun, Ashrafiyeh, Beirut, Lebanon
Straightforward, well-prepared French cuisine and a good wine list, but the main attraction is the restaurant's design. Beirut architect Bernard Khoury wrapped the exterior of this 1920s villa with wire mesh and topped it off with a half-barrel-shaped metal roof that can slide open, like an observatory. The dining area resembles a stark conference room-it has one large table that wraps around the service area. The top-floor bar and the garden terrace are popular spots. Nightly for dinner. Reservations recommended. $$$-$$$$. Most major credit cards. Rue Mar Maroun, Ashrafiyeh (almost opposite the Church of St. Maron), Beirut. Phone 01-575-858.
